Washed by the Adriatic Sea, Polignano suspends itself on the sea.
Its waters, surrounded by beautiful beaches, have been awarded by the European Union, many times with the prestigious Blue Flag award.
The most characteristic beach is undoubtedly that of Lama Monachille, of white pebbles enclosed by sheer cliffs.
Among these walls stands the Grotta Palazzese restaurant, which according to the story told, Queen Giovanna I of Naples was bewitched by the panorama, so much so that she stopped for a loving encounter with her damsel.
The old city, enclosed on the high and jagged coast, still retains its beauty, with a succession of narrow streets, white houses and loggias overlooking the sea. Polignano tour will leave you with a pleasant impression.
Due to its beauty, many films have been shot in Polignano, including:
- Cado dalle nubi (2009), by Gennaro Nunziante with Checco Zalone;
- Che bella giornata (2011), by Gennaro Nunziante with Checco Zalone;
- Matrimonio al Sud (2015), by Paolo Costella, with Massimo Boldi, Biagio Izzo, Barbara Tabita, Fatima Trotta, Gabriele Cirilli, Paolo Conticini e Enzo Salvi.
